Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting
Volvo drivers are enthralled by the remote control features of their key fob. They can lock and unlock their car as well as start the motor and even locate it with an app for smartphones.

Unlocking the Doors

To unlock the manual lock or unlock button, hold your key fob with the Volvo logo facing up. Find the black button at the edge of your key fob and gently press it. This will open a protective cover that protects the key blade that is manual. You'll require a flathead screwdriver, or a coin to flip this cover counterclockwise, so the arrow is aligned with "open."
Beginning the Engine
Modern Volvo key fobs offer an ease of use and convenience that is unrivalled by manual keys. Key fobs, like any other battery-operated device may lose charge over time. If you notice that your key fob is less responsive when you hit the lock or unlock button, it could be time to replace the battery.
If your vehicle is fitted with a dealer-installed Engine Remote Start accessory, you can also use the key fob to activate this feature. The car will be heated or cooled to the same temperature it was set to when it was parked. It can it can run for up to 15 minutes.
With a fingernail, remove the cover on the back of the key fob. Under the cover on a diagonal, close to the edge of body, you'll find an unidentified button. Take it off by sliding it downwards and then to the right. The cover will break loose, and then slide off to reveal the manual blade! If you're still having trouble finding the button, you can search the newly revealed manual key access to see whether there's a secret slot or lever.
Close the Windows
Volvo key fobs come with an option that hides behind them that allows you to instantly roll down all windows. volvo key is useful when trying to squeeze into a cramped parking spot, or even simply when you want to get some fresh air in the cabin while driving.
Press and hold the unlock button on your Volvo remote control for four seconds. This will lower the windows as well as the sunroof, if you have one. Then, when you're done driving you can shut everything by pressing the lock button once more for four seconds.
You can also activate the panic alarm in your car by using the key fob. This will produce the alarm sound loud enough to attract attention and deter thieves. Opening the Tailgate
Volvo has packed its key fob with a many useful features. These are perfect when you're juggling shopping or helping your kids pack up their sports equipment after practice.
For instance, if you have the Hands-Free Power Liftgate with logo projection and adjustable height (if equipped) you can open it using the key fob. It is possible to open the liftgate by pressing the button and then close it using the same button.
Use the key fob whenever you are ready to start the vehicle. (Don't worry if the battery goes out or if your vehicle doesn't start, because it also has a mechanical key slot). This is one of the many useful tricks for your new Volvo.

The Alarm is turned off
Modern key fobs provide a lot of convenience over a traditional mechanical car key. They aren't always working perfectly and batteries may go out. If you're in a hurry, or aren't keen on going to an establishment to have your key fob reset, you can try to achieve it at home.
Find a clean work surface and lay out your key fob, battery and other keys. Place the key fob in a place with the Volvo logo facing up and then locate a tiny black button to the bottom left of the fob and slide it down and to the right. The cover should fall off and reveal the key blade's mechanical mechanism beneath.
Press the key fob's unlock button twice quickly, and you will be able opening all the doors as well as the tailgate. By pressing the lock button for two minutes, you are able to close the windows and shut the sunroof if they are equipped. Connect the battery and the alarm will stop. If it does not, the owner's guide should include a reset procedure.
